Scandalous details about Glenn Greenwald!

Yesterday, Glenn Greenwald noted in passing that Misha the Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler, one of the Big Boys of the right wing blogosphere, was encouraging readers to murder Supreme Court Justices.

Quoth Misha,

“Five ropes, five robes, five trees.

Some assembly required.”

Being the charitable guy he is, Glenn argued that it would be unfair to hold the rest of the right wing blogosphere responsible for Misha’s aberrant misanthropy. We shouldn’t assume that Michelle Malkin, Captin Ed, and other top right wing bloggers who have Misha on their blogrolls are sympathetic to his weird little homicidal fantasies. They shouldn’t have to denounce him explicitly. It should just be obvious that nobody takes Misha seriously.

Nevertheless, Riehl World View was perturbed by Glenn’s mild-mannered little post, and penned a rejoiner entitled “Enough Greenwald, Already”.

It’s blistering stuff. I must say, I’ll never ogle GG in quite the same way again.

The RWV’s devastating gotchas include: As First Amendment litigator Greenwald argued that it isn’t necessarily a crime to call for the murder of judges, he doesn’t keep his law license current now that he’s not practicing law, and, wait for it...he’s verbose.

  1. Verbose means too many words. Mr Greenwald, Esq (lapsed), often uses a lot of words but I’ve never noticed too many. That guy with the French sounding name that used to hang out here uses a lot of words too. Never too many that I noticed.

Since when is not being a lawyer a bad thing?

  2. Verbose? He’s downright laconic when it comes to all that could be said about nos amis de la droite.

  4. Considering that Malkin may have helpded drive a woman to commit suicide, why would she be bothered by Mischa’s antics?

  6. One of my favorite moments of this condemnation marathon is Riehl’s defense of the moral higher ground:

I’m not going to condemn that from Misha because I don’t see it as anything other than hyperbole and it’s Misha’s blog and a matter of free individual speech.

You know the routine: Misha is a hyperbolic humorist; Deb Frish is a threat to common decency; Green Greenwald is verbose.  I would feel better if I’d come across Jeff Goldstein or Patterico or whoever saying, just as an aside, that Misha’s remarks are loathesome, in bad taste, completely stupid...anything.  But the closest I’ve seen is along the lines of ‘Misha’s schtick is boring and tiresome.’

Lindsay, I wonder if anyone’s argued that, according to JG’s view of (literary) meaning, Deb Frish’s comments didn’t really constitute a threat because she didn’t intend them as more than shit-stirring.  It would be funny if his position denied him the ability to say (with legitimacy, that is) that her remarks meant something awful.

  7. Yes, it was quite nice to ogle GG at the link Lindsay provided, he’s a hottie.

It cracks me up that, during this dustup, the wingnuts had to drag a blogger who never got more than 100 visits a day out to screech “See! See! Lefties are deranged!”.  Is that it?  That’s the best they can do?

Damn! My submit word is “social”.  Where’s the “ist”? Damn identity software!

  8. OK Leftists:

So, this makes me wonder: is it really time now to buy a gun and/or start taking martial arts?  Or is it just counter-productive?

    Whaddya think?

  9. Maybe it’s a cultural thing, but I’m more about hoarding bottled water and gold. smile
