Indefinite irony hiatus

That nasty pneumonia has landed Jamie in the hospital.  He’s doing OK and we hope it’ll be a short stay, but I’ll be otherwise occupied for a while.  Feel free to chat among yourselves about any old thing, and send Jamie a good wish if you have a free moment.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for Jamie.  And you take care of yourself, too, Michael--as I’m sure you know, but sometimes it can help to be reminded, caring for sick kids is exhausting, so remember to be easy on yourself too, get as much rest as you can.  Don’t worry about us.  The blogosphere will take up the slack for you until you return.

Thank you all so much for all your kind wishes-- Jamie’s doing well today and wants to come home right now.  (We explained to him that we were still concerned about his O-sat levels-- he did a unit on the circulatory and respiratory systems last year in fifth-grade science class-- and not only did he Completely Get It, but he declared that he was “all better” the second his pulse-ox read 96.  The kid really doesn’t miss a trick.) But he’ll probably be in one more night so that he can be flooded with antibiotics, and I’m taking a short break to catch up with the day’s business (including all your kind wishes).  If you’d like to send him an e-card (bellatrys or anyone else, and thank you so much for the suggestion), his brand new birthday-present email address is .

  21. Thought you might appreciate that I went to a town hall style meeting with John Edwards today and he took my question (about getting women’s issues into the White House) and praised me for my passion on the issue. It totally made my day. I also told him that he had great hair (he chuckled).
    Of course send Jamie my best wishes, I hope he is home and feeling better soon.
