New and improved blogroll

Now with 40 percent more blogs!

Just remember, to keep this site up and running, all you need to do is . . . um . . . well, actually, you don’t need to do anything.  And I don’t have a tip jar.  I do, however, accept small donations that are placed in manila envelopes and left in the hollow tree on the south side of the Penn State English department offices in Burrowes Building.

Seriously, it looks as if this site has had just over 20,000 visitors in April, which would give us three straight months at the 20,000 level.  At some point this month I found myself actually getting into this site-meter thing-- it’s sort of like the Arts and Humanities Citation Index on steroids (and that would be a bad thing).  I even found out about that “ecosystem” over at The Truth Laid Bear and watched as I flitted back and forth between “adorable rodent” and “flappy bird,” wondering (a) whether an organism can, in fact, slide up and down the evolutionary ladder like that, and if so, what this means for the theory of punctuated equilibrium, and (b) WHAT IN THE WORLD AM I DOING, wasting even a minute of the day checking whether I’m a flying squirrel or an emu or a majestic eagle?  It’s not like I have advertisers or anything.

Still, 20,000 visitors a month . . . let’s put it this way:  my first book sold about 600 copies, well over half of these to university libraries, which means that it most likely had something less than 600 readers.  So thanks, one and all, for stopping by-- especially those of you who stop by regularly, whoever you all are.
